How to Apply
There are three ways to apply for Indiana Medicaid. All three go to the same place — FSSA reviews your application no matter how you submit it.
Online — Fastest Option
Available 24/7
Go to gateway.in.gov and create a free account. You can apply for Medicaid along with other benefits like SNAP food assistance and TANF.
You will need to upload documents or mail them after you apply.
By Phone

In Person
Division of Family Resources (DFR)
Visit your local DFR office. Staff can help you fill out the application in person. Bring your documents — see the Document Checklist.
What Happens After You Apply?
Most decisions are made within 45 days. If your application involves a disability determination, it may take up to 90 days.
You will get a letter in the mail with the decision. If approved, your coverage usually starts the first day of the month you applied.
