Who Qualifies?
Indiana Medicaid is based on income, age, household size, and disability. Most people who qualify fall into one of the programs below.
Adults Ages 19–64 — HIP
Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP)
You may qualify if your income is at or below 138% of the Federal Poverty Level.
For 2026, that is about:
- 1 person: $1,836/month (~$22,000/year)
- 2 people: $2,483/month (~$29,800/year)
- 3 people: $3,130/month (~$37,600/year)
- 4 people: $3,777/month (~$45,300/year)
HIP has two levels — HIP Plus and HIP Basic. Most people get HIP Plus.
Children Under 19 — Hoosier Healthwise
Hoosier Healthwise (HHW)
Children in families with income up to 200% FPL may qualify.
- Family of 2: $3,613/month
- Family of 3: $4,556/month
- Family of 4: $5,498/month
Pregnant Individuals
Pregnancy Medicaid
If you are pregnant, the income limit goes up to 200% FPL. Coverage starts the month you apply and continues through 60 days after your baby is born.
You do not need to be a U.S. citizen to get pregnancy Medicaid in Indiana.
People Who Are Aged, Blind, or Disabled
ABD Medicaid
If you are 65 or older, or you receive SSI or SSDI, you may qualify for ABD Medicaid. Income and asset limits are different from HIP.
